Day 365.The end of my year 1 project

These are the two cameras that have seen me through this year long journey....and i thank them for being there by my side helping my through my growing pains.

Today is Day 365 of my Photo Project 365. It has been a wonderful and fabulous journey. On May 23^rd, 2007 I made a commitment to myself to take a photo a day and post it on my blog and on my flickr account. Through this project I achieved what I wanted and more. I see the world around me with “new eyes”. I am seeing things that I have never seen before or appreciated. I have learned to appreciate all the little details of life around me and I have improved my photographic skills. I am a photographer.

The most important aspect of this project was the things that I got out of it that I did not expect….After 8 months of using my advanced point and shoot (Canon S3), I felt confident and ready to purchase the Canon 400D. Once I bought the DSLR I never turned back…and never put the camera on “P” mode again. I have also met some fantastic people on flickr who share my passion and love for photography. And I have learned so much from these friends. I can’t express how much my flickr friends mean to me. I am also so grateful that I have met and found such a great friend in Mary, Msummerchick, through this project. She has been so supportive and is always willing to share her passion and knowledge of photography with me. It is wonderful to have met a local flickrite that I have so much in common with besides photography. Mary my soul sista…you are the best. And lastly, I have also opened myself up to share my passion with others and have reached out to encourage others to pursue their passion. Joanne, I am so glad that I have been able to encourage you to start your own 365 project. I can’t wait to see your progress within this next year…although I think that you are already a fantastic photographer and I look forward to all the many photo shoots that we will have in the future.

I now want to thank everyone who has been logging on everyday, every week, to view my photos. You all know who you are. Your kind words and just the knowledge that you were out their watching me…helped me to continue this project even when I didn’t feel like it. Love you all.

Took a hike through Maudslay State Park in Newburyport with my step-son Craig today. He pointed out this awesome tree that was growing along side of this wall. He said to me "Looks like this is the photo of the day". So right Craig...thanks for finding this for me.

I am climbing the walls today. I have 9 more days to the end of my 365 project and i need to find an awesome idea for my Day 365 photo.....HELP!!

Day 355

The Dinner Bell
Today is Mother's Day and i went over to my Mom and Dad's this morning to wish my mom a happy mother's day and give her one of my special photos that i framed for her We chatted and my dad showed me an awesome old photo that he had taken and framed like 35 years years ago with his film SLR camera, which by the way he still uses with his 52mm 1.8 prime lens.

My parents yard is full of all sorts of wild flowers, tulips, and flowering trees and bushes. So i went out side with my camera. I got some amazing and wonderful photos and i had fun walking around the 3/4 acre lot and remembered all the fun me and my 4 siblings had in this huge yard; the skating rink my dad put up in the winter, the ball games my bothers had in the yard, the private spaces we made in the back yard at the end of the property next to the stone wall, and the huge vegetable garden my dad had with corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini squash etc etc. They are all wonderful memories. And just as i was walking back into the house after my back yard photo shoot, I saw the old dinner bell. And this was the best memory. Those were the days when kids could roam all over the neighborhood with out worries of strangers. And there were no cell phones. And when it was time for dinner or lunch, Mom would ring the "dinner bell" and no matter where we were in the neighborhood we would hear it and know that it was time to come home.

Today, as i took this photo, I could hear the sound of the bell and it was nice to come home again.

Day 354

What an amazing day! Went to the Ipswich Wildlife Sanctuary with my friends Mary, Chris and Joanne. I got so many amazing shots of birds, dad mom and baby geese, hawk, flowers. They called for rain today...but the sun came out just in time for us girls to have fantastic day!!
