Scott & Mary

My son and his girlfriend are heading back to college. They have been together for 5 years...since they were sophomores in High School. Not only will I miss Scott...but I will miss having Mary around the house too. They are both great kids. Good Luck Scott & Mary as you start your Junior year in College.

Ok...here is the story behind this photo. I have this weed growing in one of my flower pots on my back deck. It is literally growing like a weed...it is now about 10 ft tall, the stalk is thick and the leaves are large and jagged.
Every day I Looked at it, it seemed to get taller and taller and then it started to grow these buds. So I everyday, l looked to see if these buds were going to turn into flowers...
This morning as I was getting my coffee, I saw this bird on one of the top branches of this 10ft tall weed. And he was pulling theses furry seedlings out of the buds, flying away and coming back for more, probably using for a nest of some sort.
mmmmm, I am still really confused as to what this "weed/plant" is and what these seedlings/buds are. My dad called me and he has the same strange looking weed in his yard too. My dad is very knowledgeable when it comes to wildflowers and weeds...and he has no idea what this things is..And on top of that, Mom and Dad, who also are very knowledgeable about birds, have no idea what this bird is.

Went to the The EcoTarium in Worcester, Mass, which is a indoor/outdoor museum of science and nature, with my friends Mary and Christine.

EcoTarium is home to two Bald Eagles. The male was found in 1978 in the Great Lakes area with a wing injury and arrived here in 1983. The female was found in 1998 in Maine with a broken wing and arrived here a few months later. Both birds are flightless and non-releasable. Our Eagles are fed mice or rats and fish, usually butterfish or mackerel. We moved the eagles into a new habitat together in June 1999. This habitat is specially designed to be safe for these eagles, who do not fly.

Jolie's Light

Spent the evening with my friend Joanne and her daughter Jolie at Salem Willow's in Salem Ma. We had so much fun; we walked along the shore, had dinner and ice cream, and then Jolie won lots of prize tickets on games in the arcade. On our way out of the park, we saw the most fantastic sunset.

As Mom and me took photos of the sunset, Jolie collected some special shells on the beach for mom and me. Thanks Jolie...you are truly the sunshine in the lives of the people who have the pleasure of knowing you.

I went to the Red Sox game in Boston today. Boston vs Toronto…it was a sad day for the Red Sos, other loss. But it was a fun afternoon just being at Fenway Park and well….the tickets were a gift, so who’s complaining.

I had a couple photos that I took inside the park that I could have used for today’s photo, but I decided to use this photo that I took OUTSIDE Fenway Park. Every day people spend hundreds of dollars at the Red Sox game…..tickets, parking, fenway franks, peanuts, beer, icecream, pretzels.etc etc. All of these things are so over priced…but we pay the money because, well it is Baseball, The all American Pass Time. But out side the Ball Park, there are people that are homeless with barely any money for food and clothing and just barely getting by. Maybe instead of buying that $4.50 Fenway Frank or the $7.50 sausage, we should have just dropped a $10 bill in this man’s cup.

Makes me appreciate what I DO have and remember what others DON’T have. Next time I will eat at home before I go to the game and spend my money to help feed someone else who’s cabinets are empty.

I got the chance to photograph my first cycling race this afternoon, the Witches Cup in Salem MA. www.witchescup.com/

This photo is of the Elite Men's Professional Division. The race was 30 miles, making 70 laps around the Salem Commons. These races are 45-60 minutes of very fast cycling, with racers averaging 25-35 mph and reaching speeds of up to 45 mph during sprints and attacks. It was totally awesome to watch and very very exciting.

Description of photo: this heart is actually a photo of part of my cloth lampshade in my bedroom. I cropped it and worked with layers to get rid of the background and colorize it. It was a neat project and fun to create something different out of a real photo.

Took a walk this evening after dinner and we struck up a conversation with a lovely Lady who lives around the corner from us whom we have never met. She invited us into her your yard to see her beautiful garden of flowers. Snapped a few photos and we chatted a bit with her and her husband...It is so nice to meet such friendly neighbors.
